Wowza. Being in Florida, we see a lot of sharks, mostly spinners, bull sharks, sand sharks and hammerheads. On mornings when the waves are good and the wind is offshore, the early sun rises and shines right through the back of the wave, illuminating crystal clear water and often revealing the dark shadows of these rulers of the sea. We paddle out anyways, knowing that if the sharks can see us clearly, we don’t have to worry too much. They know we aren’t delicious fishies!
This video, discovered on surf blog Santa Cruz Waves, puts a tightness in my chest and makes me thankful I am not on the left coast. It’s downright terrifying.
