There’s nothing worse than falling out of surf shape and having an opportunity to go on a quick strike mission, only to get in the water and get pummeled and not be able to catch waves. For the seasonal surfer, it takes a certain amount of discipline to keep up a fitness routine that serves well in the water. One sure way to maintain paddle power is through swimming. The best way is to join a regular program i.e. a Masters swim class, but if that doesn’t fit your fancy, make a point of working out in the pool or ocean at least once a week.
Men’s Journal just came out with a full post on 9 Swimming Workouts . Read through this manual to improve particular skills, increase efficiency in the water, build up your surf muscles and be ready for the next swell.
